Chelsea given green light to sign Bundesliga star

The English football club Chelsea has been given green light to sign up a Bundesliga star player.

Pierre Emerick Aubameyang appears to be available due to the breakdown of his relationship with the German club.

On 4 July 2013, Aubameyang joined 2012–13 Champions League finalists Borussia Dortmund on a five-year contract. He made his competitive debut for his new club on 27 July 2013 against Bayern Munich in the DFL-Supercup, replacing Jakub Błaszczykowski for the last 18 minutes of Dortmund's 4–2 victory, assisting Dortmund's final goal, scored by Marco Reus. On 10 August, Aubameyang made his Bundesliga debut and scored a hat-trick against FC Augsburg, including a goal from his first shot in the league. In the process, Aubameyang also became the first Gabonese player to appear in the Bundesliga. On 27 November, he scored his first Champions League goal in a 3–1 win against Napoli in the group stage of the 2013–14 competition. He later took a penalty against 1860 München that propelled Dortmund into the next round of the DFB Pokal, finishing the year with 13 league goals and 16 goals in all competitions.

His career in Gabon so far: Aubameyang was the winner of CAF's African Footballer of the Year award in 2015, becoming the first Gabonese player to win the award. In December 2016, he was named by The Guardian as the eighth-best footballer in the world. He is the son of former Gabonese captain Pierre Aubameyang.

So far this season the 28-years-old has scored 17 goals though his campaign has been showered with controversy.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is looking to add up the options up front after complaint from striker Alvaro Morata. The player suffered a hamstring injury last month. He has admitted he is struggling with the demands of playing 3 games a week. Morata has recorded eight top flight goals in the League so far this season, his back up Michy Batshuayi is out injured.

During Dortmund last Campaign, Aubbameyang was sent off in the 55th minutes with a 4:0 goals up. The dismissal gave their counterpart the courage to come back in the game, scored four times to snatch a point. The game ended 4:4.

The player was suspended early this month by his club side for disciplinary reason. Though the reason were not mentioned but some of his team-mates have complained about his poor timekeeping. He is also alleged to have angered his club by taking part in an unauthorized video shoot.

A year ago, he was suspended for a Champions League game against Sporting Lisbon after jetting off to Milan against the wishes of then-coach Thomas Tuchel .

Earlier this year, Aubameyang is said to have been given club permission to make a trip to Barcelona, but still returned late from it.
